Loving The God Who Sees You

The second installment of gratitude posts for November focuses on the love of God. We can only understand some of the depth of the love that God has for us. Beginning with a love that was present before we were born. That in itself is perplexing to us as humans. 

This love comes from a God who sees us and wants us to experience His blessings beyond our needs. 

So she named the Lord who spoke to her: “You are El-roi,” for she said, “In this place, have I actually seen the one who sees me? Genesis 16:13, CSB

“May the Lord bless you and protect you; may the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; may the Lord look with favor on you and give you peace.”  Numbers 6:24-26, CSB

What Is This Love That God Has For Us?

Here are some of the characteristics of God’s love for us. 

The Love With No End

God’s love is never-ending! No matter what mess we find ourselves in, He is faithful to continue loving us. 

Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for his mercies never end. 

Lamentations 3:22, CSB

The Love I Didn’t Deserve

When I was a wretched mess and living life on my terms, God still loved me as He does now. 

But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8, CSB

The Love That Brings Peace

No Matter what we face we can rest assured that God’s love will bring us peace. 

Though the mountains move and the hills shake, my love will not be removed from you and my covenant of peace will not be shaken,” says your compassionate Lord. Isaiah 54:19, CSB

The Love That Forgives

God’s love teaches us what forgiveness is all about. Because He is faithful to forgive our shortcomings and our sins, we learn to forgive those who trespass against us. 

bearing with one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you are also to forgive. Colossians 3:13, CSB

The Love That Gives Mercy

When we have been that person who has hurt others and caused chaos, God shows us mercy because His love is greater and deeper. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us. Ephesians 2:4, CSB

The Love That Shows The Way

Even when we think we can find our path, God is right there to guide us through love and patience. 

A person’s steps are established by the Lord, and he takes pleasure in his way. Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, because the Lord supports him with his hand  Psalm 37:23-24, CSB

The Love That Is Patient

God has a love that is so patient when we are so busy trying to make life work by our standards. 

The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance 2 Peter3:9, CSB

The Love That Comforts

We will need that love that can comfort us when we are heartbroken. A love that will give us hope when we feel hopeless. That is God’s love. 

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort.c 4He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, CSB

These are only a few of the characteristics of God’s love for us. There is so much more to find in scripture about His love for us. 

God Sees You

Not only does God love you, but He sees you. He sees you when you are broken, bruised, and down. He sees you when you are joyful, ecstatic, and encouraged. When you feel abandoned by others or trampled by the enemy, He sees you. 

Not only does He see you, but He also is right there to hear your cry and carry you through your darkest times. 

It’s All About Love From Him and For Him

Because He loves so much, it becomes easy to love Him. Even when we are scared or hurt, in loving Him we find our strength. 

As we go into the holiday season, take time to love on God and allow Him to love on you. Others need to know that there is love in this cruel world. Somewhere in the back of the room, there is someone just waiting to know that there is a God who loves them just for who they are. 

We don’t deserve all the goodness that He gives, but He gives it anyway. Simply because He loves us. When we accept the redemption that Jesus paid for us on the cross, we accept becoming a child of God. We are adopted into a relationship with Him. -Cornerstone, Section 2
