Set the Cornerstone
Strength is important in many areas of our lives. However, we sometimes equate it with our physical bodies. That is not always the case. When it comes to our faith being strong isn’t always seen. This type of strength generally refers to being able to stand firm in our beliefs. So where do we get this type of strength? How do we build this strength?
The initial phase of building this strength starts with building a foundation based on our beliefs. This is based on accepting the love of God and the salvation we are given through the death of Christ on the cross. Without the love of God, there would have been no reason for Him to send His Son to earth to die a hateful and cruel death that He didn’t deserve. It is because He loves us so much that He chooses to give us the gift of salvation. We can’t earn it and we don’t deserve it. Yet, He gives us the chance to become redeemed.
For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16, CSB
Once we realize this love and the availability of His grace, we can then begin to lay a foundation. As with anything you build, you have to have a firm foundation that is straight. The foundation has to be lined up according to the plans. The starting place for this alignment is to set a cornerstone. The cornerstone keeps the walls in line which helps them to remain straight and strong as the building is completed. The walls have to be able to withstand the weight of the building as well as the elements.
We learn in the Bible that our foundation is built upon the Living Stone that was rejected. This Cornerstone is the Rock on which our foundation of faith is built.
Therefore the Lord God said: “Look, I have laid a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; the one who believes will be unshakable. And I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the mason’s level.” Hail will sweep away the false refuge, and water will flood your hiding place. Isaiah 28:16-17, CSB
This Cornerstone of our foundation is also our Redeemer, the one who paid for our atonement. From this, we build on freedom, relationship, purpose, and action. Have you set the Cornerstone for your foundation? Is your foundation aligned with God’s Word?
This week a new Bible study was released for those who are wanting to inspect or set their foundation and cornerstone.
About the Cornerstone Bible Study
Through the last couple of years, I have been taking time to inspect my foundation. I wanted to be sure that the placement of my walls was lining up with God’s will for my life. As I took this time and healed and sought God’s direction, He began leading me in writing a Bible study. One that would encourage others to inspect their foundations. This study is for the woman who thinks she is not valuable. It is to encourage the woman who feels like her walls will crumble at any time. This study is for you… and for me.
Through this study, you will meet the One who became the Cornerstone that keeps your foundation strong. You will get to know the Spirit that dwells within you as you surrender to become a vessel in the Kingdom of God.
As you work through this study you will begin to understand why and how God loves you. You will come to know your Savior, Jesus Christ, in an intimate relationship. All of this will help you realize your identity in Christ and your value in His Kingdom.
The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. Psalm 118:22, CSB
