What does it look like for you?
The last post related to being intentional in our relationship with God in 2023 is going to address the area of daily motivation. What does that look like for you? Let’s face it… we all have those moments throughout the day when we need that extra dose of motivation. We need that pep talk from Jesus to get us over the hump of the day. I am that person that needs to check in with Paul on occasion and get some motivation from Acts or check out Peter’s take on how to come back into focus on Jesus and not the storm.
When do you need that extra forehead kiss from God to let you know that it is going to be okay??
Yeah.. me too Friend!!
There are several ways that you can choose to receive daily motivation as you start a busy work day or take time at lunch to rejuvenate. Again, there is no wrong or right time or way. The important thing is that you find what works for you.
Those Cute Little Devotional Books
If you are a book person, (I am that book nerd) there is a chance that one of those cute little devotional books on the aisle ends will catch your eye. They are just right for fitting in a purse or a backpack. You can keep them in the car or on the nightstand. And did I mention…. they are sooo stinkin’ cute!!! There are so many to choose from I have to whoa myself so I am putting up dinner to get books. (not that I would do that.. but you know what I mean!!)
These small devotional books can come in handy no matter where you are throughout the day. At work, you can simply pull it out and read the page for the day. Or maybe your days are so full that you choose to read it just before bed. It can also be something that is kept on the side table and read in the morning as you drink your coffee. You can keep it in your car and read it in the pick-up line at school while waiting on the littles.
Where can you find 10-15 minutes to read through a page in a devotional?
Here are a few good choices, some of which have been in publication for a few years but are still great devotionals.

There’s an App for That!
Yes, my Friend, there are many apps that will deliver a daily devotional to your fingertips. Quick and easy to access… since we all seem to have our phones in our hands or nearby. Most of the apps are free but they offer a paid version that will add more bang for the day. Some apps have a prayer journal section, worship section, and Bible reading plan. These are great features to enhance your devotional time.
Here are a few of the Bible apps that I have found to be chock-full of goodness and even more so with the paid versions. Each of these does have a free version.

Listen up Friend, There are Podcasts Too!!
If you are one of those that enjoy listening to podcasts, then there are plenty to choose from that will offer daily motivation. These tend to be a bit longer, only because someone is talking rather than you reading. You can find most of these on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and iTunes.

Enjoy the Moment with Jesus
Now that you have some ideas about where to find daily motivation it’s time to decide which would work best for your lifestyle. It could be one of them or a combination of any or all.
Personally, I enjoy the free Glorify app along with YouVersion reading plans. I use these for different aspects of my devotional time. Glorify is where I spend time in the mornings. I enjoy the layout of the daily inspiration. Each day there is a scripture, reflection, and thought or song related to the weekly topic. This brings so much more to the devotional.
I enjoy the reading plans on YouVersion and Dwell so I use those in the evening as I read through the Bible this year. There are days that I need to have that encouragement playing in my ear while I am working on content planning.. those are the days of podcasts.
Again, it is really just based on personal preference as to which form of content works best for you.
I hope that you have enjoyed getting a plan for staying connected with God throughout the year!!
