This time of year is when we are planting our gardens. We are sowing seeds for the vegetables that we can’t wait to eat. Tomatoes, carrots, squash, cucumbers, potatoes and so many other tasty items that we want to grow and enjoy. In order to have the vegetables we like we must choose the right seeds.
We also put them away by canning them so that we can enjoy them at a later date. Preserving fresh vegetables is something I was never taught, because if I had been, I would have a pantry stocked with fresh salsa, pickles and so many other goodies.
Our faith garden is much the same way. We have to choose the right seeds to keep in our spirit so that we can grow the fruit that others will need. Our faith garden isn’t so much about us, but rather what can we grow to share with others.
Just like preserving fresh vegetables, we can preserve our faith. We do this by continually reading God’s word and meditating on what we have read. We store in our hearts so that in the times we are needing to share these fruits, we have access to them.
When we plant the seeds of His word in our spirit it keeps us focused on Him. We learn how to walk according to His will.
One of the first seeds choose is love. We have to first plant the seed of God’s love for us so that we understand how to love ourselves and others. Without love we have nothing to offer others. Even if we have the most beautiful fruit of joy, it is nothing without love.
Just as Galatians says, we will reap what we sow.
If we sow into the world then we reap the world. But this isn’t what it seems.. the world will fade and so will it’s accolades of our success. When we seek to become great in the world… it only lasts for a time. Then there is someone else the world sees as being better and we are tossed aside. Castaway to be alone to deal with being replaced.
But when we sow into our Spirit… Oh the goodness we will reap. We will never be castaway and we will always know the love of a Father who chose us to be His prized possession. We will know His peace and joy no matter what we face. Even if we are faced with a dark moment.. He is faithful to be there beside us to light the way. We will reap the everlasting life with our Father… Oh what a life that will be.
Friend, take time to choose the seeds of God’s word… a garden of grace and love awaits you!!
