Hey There…I’m Cyndi Kay

For years, I tried to keep up with everyone else’s spiritual journey while feeling lost on my own. I thought a breakthrough required more effort, more discipline, more doing. Until God taught me something radical: breakthrough happens when we pull over and get still. My most transformative encounters with Jesus didn’t happen during church programs or spiritual disciplines—they happened on quiet backroads when I was overwhelmed enough to stop, get still, and let Him meet me there.

Those pullover moments changed everything. They taught me that breakthrough isn’t about spiritual performance—it’s about encountering Jesus in the stillness. Those moments let me know that it doesn’t matter where the brokenness came from; it doesn’t have the privilege of taking up space in my life. Jesus didn’t redeem me from a harsh past just to allow the hurt.

Guess what? That is what God’s nature is all about. Showing up when we don’t know that we need Him and being right on time when we do! He doesn’t miss a thing, and it is safe to say– nothing surprises Him. So in the middle of all the pain and turmoil, God never once failed!

Not once… But twice

My Friend, I get the weariness of feeling defeated. You know those times when you are so tired from the battle, you don’t know if you are going to get through it.

I went around the breast cancer mountain and was so thankful that I had planted that victory flag at the summit. But what do you do when you are suddenly faced with that same mountain? You already know the terrain, and you know the harsh reality of the weariness that comes with engaging in that battle. Well, my friend, you stand, and you fight… again. Because the truth is, God is the one who fights for us.

Long story short (more about it later) 2 battles with breast cancer left me a bit unnerved and cautious about life.

Just when I thought all was well…

At a point in my life when I thought I had control and was going to fix all the hard moments, God showed me that I have no idea the plans He has for me. I was moving along in life with a great job and finally helping the boys get through the hard moments… it was easy peasy! Or so I thought!

Meeting this man was nothing new, I mean, we did go to high school together! Funny story is that we had a crush on each other, but we never mentioned it to anyone. And now, all these years later, we are on this journey together. It hasn’t been all that easy, but it sure has been worth it. I don’t know that my heart was expecting this kind of love.

And then there became a limp.

Being a boy mom has been one of the greatest joys in my life. Each one has their own personality and quirks. Their own talents and joy.

Losing my oldest was definitely the moment I gained a limp that would always be a reminder of his presence in my life. It would also be the limp that reminds me that God is always going to be God!

Friend, let me tell you, if you are walking the journey of grief, I am right there with you. The loss of a loved one will linger on this side of heaven as long as we have memories. But we don’t have to live in that mourning. There is joy… I promise.

Forging forward..

As a writer and Professional Encourager, I create content that helps overwhelmed hearts discover breakthrough through stillness rather than rushing. I’ve written for Christian Women Living Magazine, contributed daily devotionals, interviewed ministry leaders, and authored devotionals and Bible studies. Every interview, devotional, and article reflects my commitment to authentic storytelling rooted in faith.

With over 5 years of experience in magazine writing and editing, I’ve had the privilege of serving Christian Women Living Magazine as a contributing writer and interviewer. I’ve interviewed worship leaders like Point of Grace, pastors, authors, and ministry leaders—bringing their inspiring stories to readers seeking hope and encouragement.

I’ve authored “Strands of Hope: A 45-Day Devotional” and “Cornerstone: Building a Kingdom Faith” (Route 146 Volume 1), and contributed to the “Today’s Hope” daily devotional series. I’ve also written articles on mental health and relationships for Christian counseling practices across the country.

My work centers on one simple truth: You don’t need to have it all together to encounter Jesus. You just need to pull over.

Friend, you are invited to join me on this journey of growing a Backroads Faith in real time. Together, we see the transforming presence of God.
